MENTOR Richmond is a popular team based monthly mentoring program that brings together young professionals and experienced local Richmond executives to encourage self-discovery, career achievement and personal growth.

Ms. Calvin and the class of 19 fellow young professionals meet every week to prepare questions for the upcoming mentor sessions, participate in the actual mentoring sessions, and have some fun at social events.

The mentoring sessions were an opportunity for the participants to get to know the mentors personally and professionally. Mentors for Ms. Calvin’s class included the CEO of CarMax, the Dean of the Robbins School of Business at the University of Richmond, the Senior Managing Director of CBRE Healthcare and the Vice President and General Manager of Kings Dominion.

Local Richmond business consulting firm Floricane also met with the participants to discuss individual personality strengths and weaknesses, how to work with other personality types and how your personality comes across to others.

Here’s what the program meant to Ms. Calvin –
“MENTOR Richmond was an amazing experience! I am a native New Yorker, and joined to gain lessons about how industry leaders apply their talents to assist in making Richmond a greater city. I knew this program would challenge me, and help me grow as a professional. I didn’t know it at the time, but this program also helped me grow personally. The Insights personality assessment provided by Floricane, was one of the most beneficial parts of this program. Insights helped me understand the full view of my personality, how it comes across, and how to work better with others.  If you really invest your time in the program, and are willing to open up to your class, you will gain much more value than your initial investment. If you are an introverted individual, remember to pace yourself and build in time to recharge.”

We congratulate Ms. Calvin on this professional achievement!
